Yellowfin tuna (Thunnus albacares) is one of the most heavily fished species of tuna in the world. Recognisable by its spindle-shaped body, steel-blue back and silvery-white belly, it is a species that lives in warm waters, often at depths of up to 500 m. With a lifespan of between 6 and 18 years, yellowfin tuna can weigh up to 200 kg and measure 2.50 m when fully grown.
